INOCHI is about feeling good in your body.

INOCHI is a movement studio that helps people build positive and productive relationships with their bodies to look and feel their best. We approach Pilates from a perspective that utilizes mental imagery and embodiment techniques to emphasize quality of movement.

Through equipping people with a knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics, our personalized sessions address key factors that improve mobility, prevent injury, enhance performance and promote general wellbeing. We believe that longevity is the key indicator of physical and mental health and each client has their own unique path to getting there.

JILLIAN STEIN

I am a former professional dancer with a background in contemporary and classical dance. I have a Masters in choreography and a Specialists Diploma in choreological studies (the practical application of movement theories). My certifications are in Pilates, Myofascial Stretch and Integrative Energetics and massage. See her CV here. I attribute the longevity of my dance career to my understanding of bio mechanics and the many modalities I’ve learned while caring for my body as a performer.

I crafted my teaching style to cue and pace each exercise in a way that avoids common injuries that often develop over time from poor postural habits and movement patterns. I incorporate my own findings and observations with the discoveries of several of the pioneers in the field of dance and mind-body-space integration, such as: Anna Halprin, Rudolph Laban, Joseph Pilates, Mosche Feldenkrais, Frederick Matthias Alexander, Eric M. Franklin, Guy Voyer, and Dona Holleman via Michelle Kronenberg.

I want to share my dance and bodywork approach as a way to expand peoples vocabulary of how movement functions. It expresses my fundamental perspective that the whole body is an intelligent system that knows only how to heal. As one develops a positive and communicative relationship with their body, they attain resilience, health and longevity.
